Looking back
Our farm has been family-owned for generations. First documents date back to the interwar period of the last century when the farm had taken the shape of a then classical agricultural estate: they bred cattle, possessed woods and made wines and when my parents took over in 1966 they enlarged the husbandry. Our wines were nevertheless already popular among the villagers and it was conventional wisdom that even the traditional wine mixed with soda water in the Heurigen was flavoursome and tasty. With me entering the farm things changed fast and essentially: cattle we do not breed anymore and also the Heurigen is closed. Therefore the vineyards grew to a size of four hectares. The terraces are mainly still the same but while my parents produced simple and honest wines I try to vinify expressive wines which represent their respective terroirs.
